Hoeryeong Pottery refers to the ceramic culture that bloomed in Hoeryeong, North Hamgyong Province, the northern tip of the Korean Peninsula and the banks of the Tumen River.
When Goryeo celadon flourished in Gangjin, Jeollanam-do and Buan, Jeollabuk-do in the 12th century during the Goryeo Dynasty, the ceramic culture that was used in the royal family of China was introduced into the Hoeryong region.
These ceramics, mainly centered on Gyunyo in Hanam Province, are glazed using grass and tree roots, and have colorful colors.
The heel is characterized by not being glazed.
